Designed for Slim Projectors October 8, 2008 Voiceguy (Los Angeles, CA) The construction is good, and there certainly is no shortage of pouches and compartments. The wheels are a nice size (not too small), providing a stable ride even on rough or uneven surfaces. The handle telescopes smoothly and is easy to extend or retract with one hand. When retracted it is completely out of the way. The main padded interior area is in the form of a clamshell design, with a zipper around three sides. The projector goes on one side of the clam shell, held in by four wide padded Velcro belts as well as a locking web belt; the laptop goes on the opposite side, held by X-shaped stretchy belts along with another locking web belt. Two zipper pouches inside will hold small accessories such as a computer mouse, laser pointer and remote control, power brick, etc. These pouches are held in by Velcro, which allows them to be positioned wherever the user chooses, or removed altogether if preferred. In addition, there is another zippered area that will easily hold a ream of paper (handouts, etc.) or other large articles, or perhaps a change of clothes. A smaller zippered compartment will hold power and video cables and a couple of locking security cables for the equipment. This compartment has stitched slots for marking pens and other small office supplies. My only complaint is that the projector compartment is obviously designed for relatively skinny projectors. My Viewsonic PJ551D, even though it's only a bit over 4 inches tall, does not fit properly -- it's too tall. It is possible to stow it in this case with the wide Velcro straps only, but the locking belt is too short to close over it even at its longest adjustment. The case is usable this way but not particularly elegant. On the whole, though, a nice case with lots of room for all sorts of stuff. If the projector capacity was better I would have given it five stars. UPDATE: I discovered that what I understood to be a security strap for the projector on one side of the clamshell is actually designed to mate with the corresponding strap on the laptop side of the clamshell, in order to keep the clamshell from falling all the way open when it is unzipped in the upright position. Thus, both of my references to "locking web belt" above are incorrect; these belts are intended for a different purpose. There is no problem with this as the other straps holding the projector and laptop in place are quite adequate. The Case Logic web site states that this case is designed for projectors up to 2.6" tall. A quick check of a major online computer retailer's web site revealed that no one is making projectors this slim any more, at least not in XGA models and above. The skinniest one I found was over 3 inches tall, and the great majority come in around 4 inches or slightly more. Thus, Case Logic's assumption about projector sizes seems to be obsolete. I am hopeful the company will tweak this design in the near future to reflect the current market. As I stated above, however, it is possible to accommodate today's chunkier models in this case; it just doesn't look as neat as one would like.
Compact Versitile Laptop/Projector Case September 3, 2008 Vernon Miller (Aurora, CO United States) I found the Case Logic to be well organized and plenty of options for my laptop and projector. I am a seminar instructor who travels on airplanes alot and found it could fit in the overhead space very well. The only down side for me is that I would have liked it a little larger.
Great Laptop Projector Combo Case May 25, 2008 N. Richardson (Bozeman, MT USA) I now have two of these for work (I checkout laptop and projector setups for the office) and these work great. Often when someone checks one out they end up requesting to purchase one. These make airport and frequent travel /presentations a breeze.
Well Designed Projector & Laptop May 24, 2008 Senior Software Designer (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this case directly from the manufacturer. They were having a sale price that beat all internet pricing. Sales gal was very helpful and patient in providing detailed dimensions. I have been using this case for over 2 years now on a monthly basis to travel to and from my workshops. It holds a normal size projector (Infocus X1a), cables, 40' extension cord, USB extender cord, 40' video cable, workshop manuals, laptop and more. Lots of room. No quality issues with this case. Just don't try to take it on a plane as carry-on luggage, because it is too big. Great for local. Great padding all around the case. Handle still retracts great. Wheels are still like new. Excellent quality. Highly recommended for local use.
