Great for travel September 17, 2008 Lighting Nerd (Milwaukee, WI United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this to serve two purposes, which it serves well: 1) a protective sleeve for my laptop while traveling (I'm one of those 1-bag nerds) and 2) as a day-bag when "on the ground" on said travels. The padding could be a little stiffer/more protective (that's why I gave it a 4 rather than a 5) but the internal pockets and shoulder strap make it great for carrying business cards, calculator, papers, writing pad, etc. while I'm actually doing business away from home. If you carry a laptop to meetings while traveling, this may not be for you (as there is room for the laptop, a few sundries, and little else), but if you need to take the old brick with you and leave it in the hotel, this is a great item.
not 5 because... August 3, 2008 Ixidor 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yes, it does have neoprene, no it is not enough to really do anything. You'll find it to be a very thin layer, in fact you can even see your hand imprint from the other side if you put your hand in the outer pocket and push against the outer neoprene flap. Otherwise, this is a very efficient, compact case. The shoulder cushion pad is very nice, can be removed and used on other straps given they're around 1 inch wide or less. Since I'm paranoid about scratches, I kept the bottom of my laptop facing the inner pockets, which seemed kind of pointless and defeats the purpose of a so-called laptop attache. This product gets a 4 for thin+Light form factor, thin/very little neoprene, useful outer pockets yet seemingly useless inner pockets. Given my laptop was 1.3 inches thick, anything thicker than an ipod (like a mouse, certain hard drives, and definitely power bricks + spare batteries) tended to make the case bulge and lose its aesthetic appeal.
Great July 23, 2008 anonymityiskey (California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this case for a bulky 17" Sony laptop my parents have. WOW. The laptop is very heavy (it's pretty old and meant as a desktop replacement) but this case masks the bulk and handles the weight very very well. I also tried to use it with my 15.4" Macbook Pro, and it was a near-perfect fit. What I liked most about the case was the handles, the front pocket for adapters and other things, and the shoulder strap. I have a Body Glove case for my MBP that I bought for like ten bucks on Amazon, but I would have gladly shelled out a few extra bucks for all the extra conveniences this one has over the simple neoprene sleeve I'm using now. All in all, I LOVE this bag and am considering buying myself one. The only complaint I have is that the shoulder straps aren't attached by a metal carabiner, but rather plastic ones. I think if using the strap the plastic attachments will snap off or break completely pretty easily.
